Tudor Hall joins Mill Hill Education Group

We are delighted to announce a significant development in the history of Tudor Hall.  Following agreement by the Governors and fully supported by the Headmistress and the Strategic Business Group, Tudor Hall is joining Mill Hill Education Group – a well-established and successful charitable group of schools whose ethos and ambition closely align with Tudor’s own.

This is not a commercial sale or profit-driven transaction. It is a values-led charitable partnership designed to enhance education, opportunity and stability for the long term.

Today’s announcement comes after an extended period of careful planning to ensure our school joins with a like-minded charity that will preserve all that we value about Tudor Hall. At a hugely challenging time for our sector we are proud to be taking this positive step forward. Through the strength and stability of a wider group, this underpins our commitment to ensuring the long-term flourishing of Tudor Hall as a school.

Tudor Hall will retain its identity, values, and its distinct educational philosophy and character as a leading all girls’ boarding and day school. Daily life, teaching, staff, our core values and our distinctive Tudor identity remain unchanged. Our commitment is to an all-girls education, empowering every girl to flourish, always.

Mill Hill Education Group has an established record of successful partnerships with schools, each of which retains its own identity and leadership while benefiting from the strength of the wider group.

The merger is expected to complete in Autumn 2026, following final legal and regulatory processes.

Tudor Hall and Mill Hill Education Group Charitable Merger FAQs

Mill Hill Education Group is a charitable collection of independent schools whose aim is to give a great education to the pupils in its care. It has grown from four UK schools in 2020 to 15 UK schools and one international school in Thailand, collectively educating around 5,000 pupils. Schools within the group retain their individuality while benefiting from shared expertise, investment and wider opportunity.

No. This is not a commercial sale or profit-driven transaction.  This is a values-led charitable merger, sometimes called a 'nil-cost transaction', meaning no money changes hands. Both Tudor Hall and Mill Hill Education Group are long-established educational charities. Tudor Hall's assets are gifted to the combined charity to be held for Tudor Hall's benefit in perpetuity. The charitable merger is designed to enhance education, opportunity and stability for the long term across the group.

The formal merger agreement has been signed. Tudor Hall will officially be part of the Mill Hill Education Group in the new academic year 2026-27.

No. Our vision, to empower every girl to flourish intellectually and make a difference in the world through community and creativity, remains at the heart of all we do. Our core values of empowerment, creativity, scholarship , leadership, service and kindness will continue to infuse daily life at Tudor and the qualities that we seek to instil in our pupils to guide them throughout their lives.

No. Each school within Mill Hill Education Group retains its individuality, character and identity. The group is deliberately diverse - from pre-school nurseries to international boarding schools - and Mill Hill Education Group's model is built on preserving what makes each school distinctive.

No. Your daughter’s daily routine, classroom learning and the unique identity and values of Tudor will not change. The uniqueness of a Tudor Hall all-girls education will be safeguarded for future generations of Tudorians to come.

Leadership will stay firmly rooted within Tudor. The Headmistress and Strategic Business Group (SBG) will retain full delegated responsibility for the life and direction of the School. Mill Hill Education Group operates a highly devolved model, recognising that school leaders are best placed to make decisions for their own communities. Decisions about curriculum, recruitment of staff and pupils and the character of Tudor life remain with the Headmistress and SBG. Group oversight is focused on strategic direction and financial stewardship.

The Friends of Tudor plays an active role in the life of the School. Every leaver will continue to automatically become an Old Tudorian and to engage with the School and with one another exactly as they do today. Visiting speakers, and careers support and networking will continue as they do now, alongside a full calendar of events, reunions and communications.

All staff will be offered new contracts on the same terms and conditions as they currently enjoy and be transferred across through a TUPE process to the Mill Hill Education Group. Job security, pay, and contractual rights are fully protected. The merger is expected to enhance career opportunities, not reduce them.

By being part of Mill Hill Education Group, Tudorians will benefit from educational resources, cross-school events and specialised collective expertise that will extend and complement Tudor’s existing provision. This can include Oxbridge preparation programmes, Medical and Dentistry application support, American University scholarship support, Degree Apprenticeship pathways and a wider careers programme. This sharing of group expertise and resources is just one example of how our offering will be strengthened beyond that which a standalone school can provide.

No. Tudor Hall’s all-girls boarding ethos runs through every element of our school and will continue as before. Current structural arrangements will remain in place. Mill Hill Education Group values boarding as part of a distinctive educational offering.

No. The broadly selective admissions pathway at Tudor will remain unchanged. The Headmistress will retain delegated authority over decisions around admissions of pupils.

All existing bursaries and scholarships will be fully honoured and will continue to be offered. Tudor Hall’s commitment to financial accessibility, and projects such as the refurbishment of the School Hall, is shared by Mill Hill Education Group and will be upheld. Donors can also continue to make charitable gifts exclusively to Tudor Hall to support transformational bursaries and specific capital projects.

Fees will be reviewed each year in the Summer Term at the annual review as they always have been. Mill Hill Education Group's model is to set fees according to what is right for each school's market and we want to ensure that parents and girls continue to benefit from and value Tudor Hall’s educational offering. Mindful of the sacrifices parents make to send their children to independent schools, being part of a group is expected to bring some economies of scale that will help keep fees as competitive as possible, but always in keeping with the high quality education and outstanding pastoral support which we provide.

No. Tudor Hall’s bank account details remain unchanged for now and will continue as normal until the charitable merger formally takes effect. Families should therefore continue to pay fees in the usual way. As with any organisation, we encourage vigilance against potential fraud and advise parents to treat with caution any unexpected communication requesting changes to payment details. We will always communicate any genuine changes clearly and directly.

Under a charity merger, the assets and liabilities are gifted to the other charity that shares its charitable objectives, and then the existing charity is dissolved. The existing Tudor Governors (Trustees) therefore have no ongoing legal role with the combined charity. Mill Hill Education Group is overseen by unpaid trustees just like Tudor Hall is, and the Mill Hill Education Group trustees will take on the responsibility for overseeing Tudor Hall.

One of the key benefits of joining Mill Hill Education Group is the ability to access group investment and expertise for capital projects. Mill Hill Education Group has a strong track record of enabling infrastructure improvements across its schools, including the delivery of new facilities on time and to specification, often with significant procurement savings.

No. Tudor Hall occupies a strong position in the wider market. This decision was made from a position of strength, not necessity, and to future proof the School in the current turbulent independent education sector.

No. Mill Hill Education Group is a charity, not a commercial entity. It does not distribute profits or operate for financial gain. The income is reinvested in the education of pupils across its schools. Tudor's charitable assets are protected and remain dedicated to educational purposes.

Yes. Each school within Mill Hill Education Group retains its individual approach to teaching and learning. Tudor Hall will continue as a HPL Pathway School until our forthcoming World Class School accreditation visit in September, after which we hope to join the HPL Fellowship and Global Community (FGC).

The role of the Governing Body is to safeguard Tudor Hall School and guide it through necessary change in order that it continues to empower girls to flourish well into the future. Together with the Headmistress, it is their responsibility to set the future strategic direction of Tudor Hall. This decision needed to be carefully researched, considered, agreed and finalised before it could be shared. We are delighted to be in a position to share the news now. The Governors ran an extensive, detailed process, exploring a range of possibilities before concluding that Mill Hill Education Group was the ideal partner. This was a deliberate, careful and forward-looking decision.

Current families will be kept fully informed and updated via regular updates from the Headmistress, the parent Newsletter and What’s On communications, and via My School Portal. Prospective and new joiner families will be kept apprised of further updates via email until they join the School. Old Tudorians and wider school community will be kept informed via relevant alumnae communications and website updates. Staff will be kept fully informed via the usual internal communications.
