Around 15% of our pupils are from overseas, choosing to join Tudor Hall for our exceptional, and quintessentially British, all-girls' boarding education.
Joining Tudor Hall from overseas
We welcome international pupils who wish to immerse themselves in Tudor Hall life, develop their intellectual potential and wider interests and who are enthusiastic about experiencing all that our quintessentially British boarding school has to offer.
How many international pupils are there at Tudor?
Around 15% of boarders at Tudor Hall are from overseas. Unlike a great many UK boarding schools, we do not have large cohorts from any particular country or region, but our community includes small numbers representing a plethora of countries and nationalities from across the world, from France to Brazil, Spain to Japan, Hong Kong to Ukraine.
When is the best age to join Tudor from overseas?
International boarders generally join our school at age 11+ (Year 7), or 13+ (Year 9) or at 16+ into the Sixth Form (Year 12). We welcome applications for Year 8 or Year 10 dependent on places being available in those year groups.
For those families who feel age 10+ is the right time for their daughter to take the next step, we welcome pupils who wish to start at Tudor Hall in Year 6. We seek to bridge the gap that some families feel occurs between junior and senior education, allowing girls to quickly and seamlessly feel at home in our relatively small senior school of approximately 275 girls. Please contact Admissions directly if you are interested in Year 6 entry at Tudor Hall.
Can my daughter come to Tudor Hall just for one year?
We always encourage families to choose Tudor for the entirety of your daughters' senior school education, but we understand that this may not be possible for some international families. It is common for pupils to join at Year 8 or Year 9 with the intention of staying for just one year and then they are so happy that they stay until the completion of Sixth Form!
For those joining in IVs (Year 10) we advise staying at least for the duration of the two-year GCSE courses; entry at LVI (Year 12) is for the two-year A Level or BTEC courses.
We also offer a one-year Pre A Level programme suitable for girls aged 15 or 16, see section below for details.
Short term international boarding places - usually one or two terms - may be available in some year groups; please enquire.
What is the full boarding experience like at Tudor?
Most girls at Tudor are full boarders (more than 170+ full boarders), ensuring that the boarding ethos runs through every aspect of school life, and that boarding houses are bustling with girls throughout each term. Enquiring families are warmly invited to visit the school to see it for yourselves.
Do you have exeat weekends?
There are usually three exeat weekends during the Autumn Term, two in the Spring Term and two in the Summer Term, during which girls go home, stay with friends or go to their guardian on Friday afternoon and return to school on Sunday evening. However, pupils may choose to stay in school during an exeat weekend if they wish (this incurs an additional charge).
