Tudor Hall’s UVI girls celebrate exam success

The majority of Tudor girls in the 2026 cohort have achieved a place at their first-choice destination, including top universities such as St Andrews, Imperial College London, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter and Newcastle. 

The diversity of destinations and courses is impressive, with girls achieving places at distinguished and competitive institutions that include Dartmouth College, a US Ivy League college. 

The strength in depth of the girls' achievements sees them studying a wonderfully wide range of subjects including Mathematics, Design Engineering, Zoology, Politics, Psychology & Neuroscience, Art History, Textiles, Environmental Sciences, and Multimedia Journalism, to name but a few. 

Provisionally, 38% of all grades achieved are at A*-A or equivalent, well above the national average (28.3%), with 75% at A*-B. A fantastic 34% of the Tudor cohort achieved two or more A* or A grades. 

Provisional results in every department mirrored the school’s performance and there were several departments recording particularly strong results. Highlights for A* and A grades include 75% of girls achieving A*/A grades in Art; 80% of grades in Geography were A*/A; and 78% of all grades in Economics were A*/A. 100% of grades in Maths and Further Maths were A* to B. 

Tudor success invariably encompasses not only academic accomplishment but also an impressive range of additional skills and nationally recognised qualifications; a number of UVI girls also leave with:  

- Leith’s CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery – an A-Level style culinary qualification accredited by the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH) 

- Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award 

- Grade 7 or 8 in LAMDA qualifications - all at Distinction level 

- Grade 8 music examinations, plus one Diploma Grade achieved 

Headmistress, Julie Lodrick commented: 

“We are extraordinarily proud of what the girls have achieved; sharing their excitement and joy at securing their university places has been such a privilege.  We are delighted that the majority of girls who applied to university secured their firm (first choice) offer. Some girls are still reviewing their options and we will continue to support these girls over the coming days. 

The diversity of the courses is a true reflection of the individuality of Tudor girls and of course, testament to the hard work and commitment of the staff in helping the girls aim high and achieve their ambitions. 

We look forward to hearing of these young women's successes and achievements over future years and to welcoming them back to Tudor often, as valued members of our OT community.”  

Individual success  

UVI twins Isla and Flora have both gained places at their first-choice destinations, to study at Edinburgh and at Manchester Metropolitan respectively. Isla, who is also an U20 GB athlete and will be continuing to balance her athletics training with her studies at university, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with my A Level results and am so pleased that all my hard work paid off. Big thanks to my teachers who supported me throughout my A Level journey. In addition to lessons, my teachers provided subject clinics, past paper clubs and gave me support and encouragement whenever I needed it. I can’t wait to go to the Edinburgh College of Art at Edinburgh University to study Textiles and run as an elite athlete within their new Global Endurance Project. I’ll miss Tudor but I am really looking forward to my next adventure in life.” 

Romily is delighted with her A*A*A results: “I’m incredibly proud that all the hard work has paid off. The support and encouragement I’ve received from my teachers has been invaluable; they became far more than teachers to me, but people I deeply admired and knew genuinely cared about me, gifting me the confidence to push my passions beyond the classroom and turn them into something I’ll carry with me for life.” 

Willow, who will be taking up her Event Management place at Oxford Brookes next year, after a Gap year, said: “I am really happy and proud today, and thankful that all my teachers gave me so much support, making it feel like it was possible. I couldn't have done it without my teachers!”
