Tudor Hall is a World Class School

Headmistress, Ms Julie Lodrick, has today written to the school community to share the exciting news.

"We welcomed a High Performance Learning (HPL) assessor to Tudor last week, following a 2-year pathway to this point. Prior to the visit we submitted over 100 pieces of evidence including exam results, value-added, lesson resources and girls' achievements across all aspects of school life, as well as a 2,000-word paper reflecting on our HPL journey and explaining how we are academically ambitious for all our girls. During the visit, the assessor spent extensive time over 24 hours observing lessons, co-curricular activities, boarding life, and speaking with both pupils and staff.  All HPL schools are judged against a global set of World Class School standards that consider the growth mindset of the school community, the level of student skills within the curriculum, the leadership of the school and the overall outcomes for students. 

A rigorous process

Following such a rigorous process, we are delighted to report that Tudor has successfully achieved HPL accreditation and is now recognised as an HPL World Class School. This prestigious accreditation recognises that Tudor has demonstrated a world class quality of education throughout the school and acknowledges our forward-thinking, research-informed approach, one that nurtures ambition, resilience and excellence, whilst equipping every pupil for lifelong success.

The assessor was full of praise for what he experienced at Tudor, noting that at the heart of everything is our exceptional culture and ethos. He stated in his overarching feedback: 

“It was a pleasure to accredit Tudor Hall last week. Seldom have I seen a school with such an advanced and palpable mission and ethos.  They are ambitious for every single pupil whereby every girl is believed in and empowered to be their best selves.  The girls are given the belief that they can achieve through engaging lessons, thoughtful activities and a razor-sharp focus on pastoral care."

While this personalised approach has always defined a Tudor education, the HPL framework has strengthened and refined our practice, providing a clear structure through which we continue to enhance teaching, learning and pupil outcomes. Alongside this, our focus on 'High Performance Living' in the Boarding Houses as well as the classroom, ensures that girls develop the confidence, character and resilience needed to thrive well beyond their school years.

Raising aspirations 

The assessor was also particularly impressed by the additional dimension that HPL brings within an all-girls environment. He commented on Tudor's ability to remove perceived barriers and raise aspirations, ensuring that every girl can envision success regardless of her starting point.  Above all, he was struck by the authenticity of our pupils. He observed that there is no single 'type' of Tudor girl; rather, our students are encouraged to be themselves, resulting in young women who are confident, poised and self-assured.

Achieving this award is a powerful endorsement of a Tudor education and, as the HPL team said, “it is a considerable milestone in your school’s quest for continuous improvement”.  And, of course, this would not be possible without the strong partnership we share with our parent body.
