Overseas Adventures

This summer 10 girls who are moving into the sixth form will be traveling to Tanzania for an overseas expedition with a focus both on a community project and gaining the PADI open water scuba diving qualification.

The team will fly out to Dar es Salaam and after a day of acclimatisation will move westward to their project area where the group hope to both contribute to the development of a school site and deliver some lessons to the local students for 6 days. The group will then move across to Zanzibar island and complete their open water PADI qualification.

The trip is part the bi-annual overseas expedition program which is focussed on a longer expedition style of trip which differs to the well know tudor in four continents. The team themselves are encouraged to take much more responsibility for the expedition, ranging from fundraising to planning their day-to-day activities, accommodation and food whilst in country.  

The Tanzania expedition builds upon a long list of successful expeditions that teams have been on in the past, including the 3-week expedition into the upper Mustang region of Nepal and the 3-week expedition into the Tropical Rainforest of Borneo Island.

Aside from the bi-annual overseas expeditions and the Tudor in four continents trips the sixth form girls also have the opportunity to apply for the Warriors Accelerated Scholarship Program (WASP). This intensive half-term trip to South Africa  was developed jointly between Tudor Hall and the Warriors Academy. The WASP usually runs in both the October and February half-terms with the scholarship limited to up to 5 students per trip.

The intensive week of activities is designed to contribute toward personal development and growth and is run solely by the Warriors Academy team of facilitators with no teaching staff involved from participating schools. The activities are non-stop, ranging from skydiving to public speaking and from giant bridge leaps to animal encounters, all of which are underpinned by Covey’s ‘7 habits of highly effective teens’ which they learn about throughout their time in South Africa.
