A2 Berlin Trip

A recent trip to Berlin took two A2 students right into the raging storm of ‘Hurricane Emma’ which just happened to descend that weekend!

Despite this they managed to seen all the sites planned for the trip including the former Stasi (secret police) Headquaters in Normannenstrasse, now a museum enabling the visitor to see just how the vast complex functioned in its drive to spy on DDR citizens and bring them in for interrogation and retribution.

That evening the destination was Tacheles, an abandoned department store which young artists took over just after the fall of the Wall. There were also trips to The Checkpoint Charlie Museum and the Jewish Museum designed by Daniel Libeskind.

A photo opportunity came at the East Side Gallery in front of the remains of the Berlin Wall.
