IIIs Design skirts in Textiles

This term in Textiles, the IIIs have been allowed to design and make their own skirts – it was the first time we had attempted an item of clothing.  It has been really fun, as we have been allowed to use new materials and wear our own creations.  We have also got to experiment with dyeing and sewing machine techniques: it was good practice, especially for those going on to do GCSE in Textiles.

Creating the skirts involved: cutting, sewing, dyeing, drawing and putting sequins and other decorations on the skirt.  The finished products looked excellent – some of them very brightly coloured – and we will be taking them home at the end of term.   Thank you to the Textiles’ teachers for letting us make skirts!
