What can the Tudor Hall Summer Camp offer you?

Head of Tudor Hall’s Summer Camp said:

“The Tudor Hall Summer Camp provides children from 5 to 11 years of age with a safe and structured environment in which they can take part in a wide variety of sporting, craft and other activities. The camp runs from 9.15am to 4.15pm (although children may arrive from 8.30am and should be collected before 5.30pm) five days a week for five weeks during the state school’s summer holiday, enabling children to sample new sports, make friends and spend lots of time outdoors – it’s a proper al fresco camp! With 30 children in the 5-7 year group and a further 30 in the 8-11 year old group, the school has a real buzz throughout the holidays.

“We aim to reproduce various elements of school life within the camp. Many of the sessions are run by Tudor Hall staff and enable the children to benefit from not only the staffs’ passion for their subject but our fabulous facilities too. We mirror our term time co-curricular activities, offering everything from baking, art and ceramics crafts to swimming, fitness training, Boxercise and IT. Every day starts off with a dance activity followed by a balanced mix of physical and creative activities.

Each day of the week is themed:

  • Mega Monday
  • Creative Tuesday
  • Wilderness Wednesday
  • Bouncy Castle Thursday
  • Funtime Friday

At the end of every day, the staff chose a child who has been helpful, kind to others and bought into the camp spirit winning the ‘Fair Play Award’. The children swim every day of the week and it’s fantastic to see non-swimmers turning into confident swimmers.

“Single sports camps definitely benefit children if they’re mad keen on a particular sport but many get demotivated if they stick to the same activity for more than an hour, so we really ring the changes throughout the day. Getting the balance of physical versus less strenuous activities right is important, and on the whole we aim to run a 50/50 split. Our experienced team of staff led by our Sixth Formers as part of their Sports Leadership Course love running the camps, reinforcing our school motto ‘I have that I may give’. Many of them attended the camp when they were younger and love coming back as volunteers. As the children begin to bond, we notice the older ones helping the younger ones, with the division of labour during den building in the woods being a case in point.
