History Comes Alive!
As part of their 20th Century Studies the IIIs visited the Imperial War Museum on 23rd Febuary. Highlights of the visit were the sights and smells of a First World War trench and participating in the Blitz Experience complete with an Air Raid Warden and some very realistic sound effects!
A few days earlier, on 20th February, the Ones visited Warwick Castle for a joint History and Geography trip. As well as exploring the castle from the top of the towers to the bottom of the dungeon with its 'oubliette' for the forgotten prisoners, we learned about the workings of the mighty trebuchet, a machine used in medieval siege warfare for hurling large stones or other missiles.
