THE TUDOR HALL HOUSE SYSTEM
Tudor Hall is unusual amongst boarding schools in that the boarders live in year group houses and not the usual mixed aged houses of most schools. This helps the year groups to bond well without removing the competitive spirit that has always been a big part of boarding communities.
There are four mixed aged Houses: Stuart, Lancaster, York and Tudor, which all meet once a week on a Wednesday morning. House meetings rotate between the Chapel, for a short service with Dr Jackson, the ballroom, the gym and the dining room for “House Breakfast”.
The Houses compete against each other in sport, music and academic achievements, for which they gain House points. The house with the most points at the end of each term wins the House Cup. The heads of House also organise regular “fun” activities for the Houses, including quizzes, discos and evenings out.
This arrangement ensures that the school is a friendly place with integration amongst the years without distorting the empathy within the year groups.
