| Todd Activities Weekend |
Pupils at Tudor Hall live in year groups. The whole year lives together creating the maximum opportunity for friendships. The Housemistress is suited to the age of girl with which she deals and is able to arrange activities and outings which are appropriate for them all to enjoy together.
Each house has a style suited to the age with greater privileges, freedom and responsibilities as they grow up, e.g. the eleven year olds' house is like a farm house. The Sixth Form house was by a designer of college halls of residence.
Each house has a common room, television and telephone, therefore younger girls are not drawn into the teenage culture too soon, programmes are suitable for the age and younger ones, when trying to telephone parents, do not have to compete with older girls making social calls. Older girls may work for public examinations without noisy younger ones.
Girls often know the Housemistress, having been taught by her before moving into that year. They will frequently continue to be taught by her for years to come. With all houses in the same grounds communication for sisters is not difficult.
New girls entering our system late will always have other new girls in the house with them. There will have been an element of newness to other girls moving up so the isolated feeling of 13+ entry is reduced.
In addition to the residential houses there are four vertical, competitive houses, Tudor, Stuart, Lancaster and York to which each girl belongs. These have House Captains and Vice Captains, link the year groups socially and form the basis for house competitions and sports.
